AdventNet Announces the General Availability of NetFlow Analyzer;
With Enhanced Application Visibility using Cisco NBAR
Pleasanton, Calif., October 5, 2006
AdventNet Inc., the leading provider of affordable enterprise IT
management software today announced the immediate availability of
NetFlow Analyzer 5.5 (General Availability), with support for Cisco
NBAR (Network Based Application Recognition). ManageEngine NetFlow
Analyzer is the market leader in flow based traffic analysis and
network forensics with a user base of over 200,000 worldwide. The
Early Access (EA) version of this release was made available 2 months
before. Following customer feedback and suggestions to EA, the product
went through continuous improvisation through this period and is
available as a General Availability now.
Cisco NBAR performs deep packet inspection to provide intelligent
identification and classification of application traffic in real
time. This allows system administrators to use the classification
reports and set QoS standards. The new release also supports advanced
application categorization based on IP address, apart from the port
and protocol from the NetFlow data.
Additional enhanced features of NetFlow Analyzer 5.5 GA include:
Automatic scheduling and emailing of reports
Support for NetFlow version 9
The raw data storage period also has been enhanced to 1 month
from 2 weeks
Grouping multiple sub-interfaces into a single logical entity
to monitor traffic
Support for ToS and TCP Flag
NetFlow Analyzer is a web-based bandwidth monitoring tool that
collects Cisco NetFlow and Cisco NBAR data exported from routing
devices, to analyze network traffic and report on bandwidth usage
across the network. With instant real-time bandwidth usage reports
on top applications, conversations, and hosts using bandwidth, NetFlow
Analyzer gives valuable insight into bandwidth usage in the enterprise
without the complexity and expense involved in deploying hardware
and software probes.
"We use NetFlow on a daily basis to provide visibility on
traffic patterns within our firewalled perimeter. It is used both
as a fault-finding tool, and a management tool to provide forecasting
and monitoring facilities of our existing and future traffic requirements.
NetFlow Analyzer's standard interface reports and custom reports
are very helpful for us to determine network problems," said
Garry Crothers, Network Engineer at Queen’s University of
Belfast, Ireland.
"The kind of response that we received during the 2 month
Early Access period was encouraging, both in terms of the readiness
to try and the quality of feedback," said Raghu Ramanujam,
Product Manager of NetFlow Analyzer at AdventNet, Inc. "With
enterprises more dependent on complex networked applications than
ever, in-depth and accurate analysis of network traffic is crucial
for optimal performance of applications. We are glad to utilize
Cisco NetFlow and Cisco NBAR technologies to bring layer 2 to layer
7 visibility," he added.
