Starting QEngine Web Client

 

There are three ways to start QEngine Web Client :


       Way 1 : (Applicable for Windows where QEngine is running in the same machine)

            In Windows, right click over the QEngine Tray Icon present in the System Tray and choose "Start Web Client" to start the web client.


       Way 2 : (Applicable for Windows / Linux System where QEngine may run in Same or Remote machine)


           Launch a Web Browser (IE / Firefox) and type in the URL http://<QEngine_Host>:<QEngine_Port>


           QEngine_Host -  is the system name where QEngine is running
           QEngine_Port  -  Port in which QEngine is running (Default Port is 7001)


       Way 3 : (Applicable for Windows / Linux System where QEngine may run in Same or Remote machine)

   
            You can open the QEngine client using QEngine Toolbar directly, For this open the browser (IE or FireFox) in which you have installed the QEngine Toolbar and click on the Connect option in QEngine Toolbar. This will bring up the Connection Details screen. In this screen, specify the following details:

    1. QEngine Host - The host name where QEngine WebTest is running. Default value is "localhost".
    2. QEngine Port - The port where the QEngine WebTest is running. Default value is "7001".
    3. Choose the connection type - Direct Connection or Use Proxy. If the connection has to be done through proxy, then specify the Proxy host name, Proxy port where the proxy server is running and the username and password to authenticate and connect to the proxy.
    4. After specifying the QEngine details and LAN Connection Details, click the OK button to connect to the QEngine.
    5. This will launch QEngine Client.

Getting Started With Suite Manager

 

Suite Manager screen will list all the available suites created with the QEngine.

Enabling Various Test Types


By default QEngine WebTest will be enabled with Web Functional testing tool. Hence if you launch the QEngine Web Client, it will directly navigate to Web Functional Test Page.


To activate other testing types from Web Functional test page follow below steps :


Once you enable multiple test type, when you launch QEngine Web Client, thereafter you will be navigated to "Suite Manager" page.


 

Selecting Test Type


Once multiple test type is enabled with QEngine Web Test, thereafter when QEngine Web Client is launched it will navigate to the Suite Manager screen.


The Suite Manager Page will show separate button for each enabled test type to continue with appropriate test type.


To select the test type, click on the Continue With Web Functionality Testing button or Continue With Web Performance Testing button or Continue With Web Services Functionality button or Continue With Web Services Performance button.

 

This will bring up the Main Screen page based on the selected test type where you can test the functionality or performance of your Web applications or Web service applications.

 

Getting Started with Test Type Screen

The test type screen is appropriate to the test type choosen. The page will contain following components:

Home Tab :

Home Tab consist of following components in it :
Reports Tab :

Reports Tab will list all the suites which contains test execution reports.  Selecting each Suite will list the link to reports for various test that got executed for the suite.

Regression Tab :

This will list various schedules configured. It will also allow to create new schedule any of the available suites.

Admin Tab :

This will consist of Global Settings. Here you can configure for Proxy Settings, Mail Configurations, Enable Other Testing etc., For More help on Global Settings follow the link here.

Support Tab :

This will list all support related informations. Addition to this it will list QEngine forum discussion threads.
