AdventNet SNMP Adaptor for JMX offers out-of-the-box SNMP management support for JBoss application servers. It exposes JBoss MBeans via SNMP adhering to the JSR-77 based SNMP MIB. The SNMP agent for JBoss is packaged as an easily deployable Web application (WAR file). IT personnel who wish to monitor and manage JBoss application servers, via SNMP, can deploy this agent and quickly enable SNMP-based management for JBoss application servers.

JMX developers, who wish to manage their MBeans through SNMP, can also use AdventNet SNMP Adaptor to quickly roll out SNMP adaptors for their MBeans, without any coding or complex development effort. AdventNet SNMP Adaptor for JMX offers an intuitive wizard for SNMP configuration. It facilitates easy and instantaneous configuration of the SNMP adaptor for MBeans built on major JMX implementations and application servers.

The JBoss SNMP agent (available as a WAR file) when deployed in the application server, provides off-the-shelf SNMP management facilities. It exposes the performance statistics of the JBoss application server, as defined in JSR-77 specification, by contacting the JSR-77 compliant MBeans. This enables SNMP management applications, such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter etc., to easily access the management information of the JBoss application

SNMP Adaptor for User-Defined MBeans

Enabling SNMP management for different kinds of management applications and systems is solved with a layered approach using AdventNet SNMP Adaptor for JMX. The SNMP adaptor when plugged into the MBean server, gets registered like any other MBean. Any SNMP manager, such as HP OpenView, Tivoli, etc. can manage the MBeans through SNMP by contacting the SNMP adaptor.
