Welcome to eBON Element Management System
Consider a scenario wherein you need to manage Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) devices which support SNMP. This Application helps you achieve the same by building an Element Management System (EMS) called eBON EMS using AdventNet Web NMS.
The EMS has been developed to discover the DSLAM devices present in the network automatically. It also discovers the sub-components. The devices and its sub-components information are stored in the database for persistence. For storing in the database, the device and its sub-components have been modeled as database objects during development. The DSLAM devices are displayed in an exclusive map with relevant menus. The map also displays the cross-connection between DSLAM devices. The Chassis, consisting of the sub-components of the DSLAM device, is displayed in a separate map called Chassis View.
The eBON EMS supports the key aspects of Element Management, i.e., Fault, Configuration, Performance, and Security (FCPS).
Fault
Fault Management service of EMS receives and process the failures in
the managed Network Element (NE) (i.e., DSLAM device) and present them in
a meaningful form. In eBON EMS, you can view Alert propagation from the
sub-component at the bottom of the hierarchy (Port in a Card) to the top
(DSLAM device).
Configuration
Configuration Management is concerned with setting or modifying values
for managed element attributes.
In eBON EMS,
you can configure both scalar and tabular values of the managed NE using
a simple screen. You can also carryout Provisioning (advanced configuration)
using templates.
Performance
Performance Management is to monitor the various parameters of the
device.
Security
Security Management supports authorization of application-specific
tasks or operations, user and group-based authorization, and view-based
authorization.
eBON is a fictitious Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment vendor. eBON has adopted the strategy of offering an EMS package as part of their DSLAM product. eBON has selected AdventNet Web NMS (state of the art network management system from AdventNet) to build their EMS for managing the DSLAM devices.
